The Challenge
Chalupkova is a new mixed-use urban block in Bratislava’s downtown, which is growing fast. It is ambitious, dense, and full of strong projects. The challenge for Chalupkova was not how to be louder or quieter, but how to fit better.
How to stand out by becoming a natural next layer of the city, not an interruption.
Strategy
Cities have their own rhythm, character, and logic. Good urban projects listen before they speak. Chalupkova was designed with respect for Bratislava. Its scale, its people, and its future. This mindset shaped both the brand and the architecture.
The project was conceived as an urban block with open public space, active ground floors, passages, and strong connections to nearby streets and the park.
A key strategic decision by the client was to keep the original local name. During the process, we explored nearly 50 alternative naming options, but Chalupkova proved the strongest. It is local, authentic, and clearly tied to the place. In a district full of generic, English-sounding names, the local language became a clear advantage.
